The SW11/MK1.5 MR2!
Since mid 2007, the SW11 has been fully street legal and driven almost every day. It hasn't really had any problems, although a few maintenance items have come up along the way. I have a lot of plans and ideas for it, but very little time and even less money! 2008 is likely to be more of the same for this car, although I do hope to get it down to Meremere to see what kind of times it can cut. I'm also very keen to get it to a track day if the opportunity presents itself.
According to the MR2OC registry, this is the 20th 3SGTE powered AW11 completed in the world, and the second in New Zealand.
The aim of this car was simple - to take a Supercharged AW11, ditch the 1.6L 4AGZE and repower it with the 2.0L turbo
3SGTE engine from a later model MR2. The idea being that the outcome would be a car that would take the awesome
handling, agility and driving fun of an AW11, yet have excellent power and torque, making an awesome all-round car
that would have all the reliability needed for daily driving. Unfortunately the normal desire for more performance
has taken over, with the car undergoing some performance mods not long after completion, and then some more significant work a couple of months later.
